From railway workers' quarter to multicultural district.
From 1860, the workers of Karlsruhe's first railroad station settled in the newly created district on the other side of the railroad tracks in front of the Ettlinger Tor. The former station district grew rapidly and its appeal remains unbroken to this day. Today's Südstadt offers a variety of cultures, southern flair and a colorful life on the streets.
