Democracy Tuesday | What do you talk about with AI?
On three Demo Tuesday events, we want to prepare for Democracy Days 2026 at TRIANGEL.
On February 24, April 21, and June 16, we will discuss questions and thoughts from teenagers and young adults about tomorrow's society and examine the current situation in Germany as a country of immigration undergoing radical change. We will begin by focusing on the use of AI in treating mental health issues.
The event will be held in German.
Young people in particular are increasingly turning to AI chatbots to cope with loneliness, uncertainty, and fears about the future. This development raises fundamental questions about the needs and motives behind the use of such systems, how AI interacts in emotionally stressful situations, and what role it can play in the context of counseling, therapy, and education.
Ines Langemeyer, Frank W. E. Stockmann, and Nadja Schlindwein present their study "A transdisciplinary exploration of the use of AI chatbots in everyday student life in the context of loneliness – emotional self-regulation as a dimension of education." Together with Dr. Caroline Götz from "Conflict Management and Psychosocial Counseling (KMB)" at KIT, they discuss the potential advantages and disadvantages of AI models in the therapeutic practice of tomorrow.
You can also look forward to live prompting. The experts will classify the results live for you, both in accordance with the study results and from the perspective of psychosocial counseling.
The evening will be moderated by Uwe Gradwohl, head of the SWR Wissen Aktuell editorial team.
And you're in! :) Join the discussion!
