CHELSEA GRIN
+ SIGNS OF THE SWARM// MUGSHOT// CROWN MAGNETAR
Chelsea Grin is an American deathcore band from Salt Lake City, Utah. Founded in 2007, the group has released two EPs and seven albums. None of the founding members have been in the band since 2018. Although he was no longer part of the original line-up, bassist David Flinn was the only permanent member on all of the group's studio albums.
Chelsea Grin was originally founded under the name Ahaziah. Ahaziah's lineup included vocalist Alex Koehler, guitarist Chris Kilbourn, bassist Austin Marticorena and lead guitarist Michael Stafford. Marticorena introduced Andrew Carlston to Chelsea Grin and helped rewrite their songs and create new material when they soon changed the name to Chelsea Grin. This writing process led to the tracks of their first release, a self-titled EP, which was streamed and released online via iTunes and then released on CD worldwide on July 27, 2008.[2] Early in the band's career, they released the songs "Crewcabanger" and "Lifeless" as singles, both of which were well received by the Myspace audience. The band later searched for a third guitarist, which led to the signing of Dan Jones and David Flinn, resulting in their album "Desolation of Eden" (2010), which was followed by "My Damnation" in 2011, before an EP entitled "Evolve" was released in 2012. In 2013, Pablo Viveros replaced founding drummer Andrew Carlston and began contributing vocals to their music, allowing lead singer Koehler to focus solely on screaming vocals while Viveros took over the mid to low growls. Since then, the band has released two more albums: "Ashes to Ashes" (2014) and "Self Inflicted" (2016). In 2018, the band ended its long career with three guitarists and now has just one. In the same year, singer Koehler left the band and was replaced by the former singer of Lorna Shore, Tom Barber. With this new four-piece line-up, Chelsea Grin officially released their fifth album Eternal Nightmare on July 13, 2018.
