Karlsruhe Master Concerts 2023/2024 - 5th Master Concert
Appassionata
She began playing by ear at the age of two, and Shin-Heae Kang gave her first concert at the age of five. In addition to playing the piano, she took guitar, violin and flute lessons, was a national champion in rhythmic gymnastics, trained in Taekwon-Do and played soccer passionately! The legendary pianist Martha Argerich made the multi-talented pianist her master student and helped her achieve her international breakthrough in 2020 with the NDR Radiophilharmonie's New Year's Concert, broadcast live on ARD and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), in which they played Poulenc's Concerto for Two Pianos together. In the "Moonlight Sonata" and the "Appassionata", Beethoven's great music finds a fearless virtuoso in Kang, about whom NDR Kultur writes: "The musicality is simply impressive. Every bar breathes great experience and deep humanity".
