It is almost exactly 25 years since Afrob unhinged the local rap scene. In March 1999, "Reimemonster" was released as the first single from the debut album "Rolle mit HipHop", and it was exactly that: a monster track. What followed was a career like no other: Ten studio albums - if you count the two collabo records with Samy Deluxe under the name ASD - and a quarter of a century of realness, the Godfather of German rap has to his name. Afrob has been on stage for 25 years and still represents hip hop as he did on day one. He is as real as it gets. He has helped shape the history of the game and is always open to new sounds. He's soulful, he's dirty, opinionated and tolerant, committed and relaxed, serious and funny, laid back and active. Everything in its own time. The latest record "König ohne Land" is just like that. First hard beats and reduced tracks, then again sweeping synth fields or choral vocals by the fantastic singer Alex Prince. Afrob's well-known well-dosed rap outbursts or classic feature tracks thunder over it all. Afrob still understands what he does, and even more so today, as a creative craft, and because he can do everything, he does everything. His career is as diverse as hip hop itself. This will also be celebrated on stage in the fall. Because he has always maintained his integrity and authenticity over the years, Afrob is guaranteed to deliver a great sound and his stage shows are legendary. He has always pulled out the top drawer. No wonder his loyal audience has carried him for 25 years.
