Michael Barenboim is deeply convinced that challenges can be found everywhere in the infinite cosmos of music, the mastering of which opens up new perspectives on both unknown and well-known pieces. Born into a legendary family of musicians, he - whose father Daniel Barenboim and mother Elena Bashkirova introduced him to the great world of music as a child - has already premiered numerous new compositions. With Hartmann's soul-searching Concerto, which is based on two chorales, and the touchingly meditative music "Fratres" by the famous Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, Barenboim plays his favorite pieces! Another highlight: Tchaikovsky's Serenade for Strings, a deeply romantic work with a dance-like, swinging lightness. "I wrote it out of an inner impulse. It is a piece from the heart," said Tchaikovsky.
