56th Penny Bazaar
The 56th PFENNIGBASAR organized by the International Women's Club Karlsruhe will delight bargain hunters with its wide range of products.
The proceeds go to social projects/organizations in and around Karlsruhe!
The PFENNIGBASAR was founded in May 1968 to finance a wide range of social activities in Karlsruhe as well as the German-American student and school exchange program through the Association of German-American Clubs (VDAC e.V.).
From the very beginning, the current Lord Mayor of the City of Karlsruhe has been the patron of this bazaar, currently held by Lord Mayor Dr. Frank Mentrup. While only members of our club were involved in the first bazaar, today between 500 and 600 additional volunteers are needed. In addition to family members and volunteers from our members' circles of friends, schoolchildren, students and employees/members of Karlsruhe charitable organizations volunteer for our bazaar every January.
Started in 1968 with gross proceeds of DM 8,800, over 4.5 million euros were generated in the years that followed.
From the very beginning, we have also been a pioneer in recycling and sustainability and the good cause has always been at the forefront. Even though the Pfennigbasar was launched in the middle of the economic miracle years, there were still many people who were dependent on cheap goods. Due to the current price increases, many people feel the same way today. In addition, the profits from the Pfennigbasar have been distributed to social institutions in Karlsruhe, the student exchange program and the association's youth work since its inception.
Collection days(donations accepted): January 29, 30, and 31, 2026, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
