In 1948, George Orwell twisted the dates and, in the aftermath of World War II, envisioned a dystopian 1984. The deadline of his fiction about a totalitarian and hate-driven world is long behind us, but we now live in our own complicated times. Once again, radical powers have a firm grip on our world, and the digital revolution with its technical possibilities is likely to exceed Orwell's worst predictions. How many cameras film us every day from everywhere, how much of our data is reused and manipulates our behavior, is beyond our imagination. The future we are sliding into is even more so. In our reworking of Orwell's classic, we once again twist the numbers and spin our constantly monitored lives further into the year 2052—to the point where it hurts.
