Karlsruhe is always worth a visit. But how can you make the sightseeing program even more individual? The Karlsruhe sightseeing cab invites you to take a very special city tour.
With the new offer, KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH is responding to demand from guests and locals who have requested a supplement to the popular CityTour Karlsruhe (Hop-On/Hop-Off) in the red double-decker bus. Susanne Wolf, Head of the Karlsruhe Tourist Information Office, explains: "Our bus tour is geared towards the classic tourist season from the beginning of April to the beginning of November, while the Karlsruhe sightseeing cab can be booked all year round. And business travelers or trade fair and conference participants now have the opportunity to take part in a city tour regardless of the timetable."
The sightseeing cab project was created in cooperation with the company TAXI-RUF Karlsruhe GmbH, which provides the comfortable large-capacity cabs - and the experienced cab drivers. Susanne Wolf is delighted: "Who knows the city with all its insider tips and most popular places better than the cab drivers? They can tell guests a lot about the city and show them everything else Karlsruhe has to offer."
The round trip in the Karlsruhe sightseeing cab follows the route of the Karlsruhe CityTour to the city's most important sights such as the ZKM, Karlsruhe Palace or the Turmberg in Durlach and takes around two hours. Passengers can arrange individually where they would like to depart from: from their hotel, from home or even from an event.
A flat rate of 160 euros is charged for the trip for up to eight people in a large-capacity cab. Tour extensions and special stops in the city area can also be arranged on request. To ensure that the tour runs smoothly, it is necessary to book at least three days in advance.
The red double-decker bus will run the sightseeing tour through the fan-shaped city three times on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until November 2, 2025, and will also run on German Unity Day (October 3). You can hop on or off at 10 stops in the city and explore the city individually. How about a detour to the beautiful palace gardens? Or a stop at the Durlacher Turmberg with a magnificent view over Karlsruhe? Other stops worth seeing are the Hallenbau cultural quarter, the Alter Schlachthof creative park or the picturesque old town of Durlach. The audio guide provides interesting and entertaining information about Karlsruhe in several languages. If you want to enjoy the flair of the city in one trip, it is best to get on at the main station forecourt and plan for a duration of two hours.
Until October 30, 2025, there are also new things to discover on the "Heimatstadt Karlsruhe" city tour. This year, the tour not only leads through the city center, but also thematically across the south campus of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). The occasion is the 200th anniversary of the university, which was founded as a polytechnic school on October 7, 1825, making it one of the first technical universities in Germany. There are also other exciting facts about the origins of Karlsruhe and its development from a baroque planned city to an important location for culture and innovation - including amusing anecdotes and insider tips from the tour guides!
The guided tour "Hometown Karlsruhe" always takes place on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The meeting point is always at the Tourist Information Office in the Schaufenster Karlsruhe.
