Oberwald Zoo
The Oberwald Zoo was created in 1965 to make room in the Karlsruhe Zoo and City Garden for the Federal Garden Show in 1967. Today, it has become an integral part of the city's cultural and recreational facilities.
Description
In the middle of a large enclosed recreational forest close to the city, weather-resistant wild animals of temperate and cold zones live on 16 hectares, each in outdoor enclosures of several thousand square meters.
Everyone is welcome to view the animals in their natural habitats. You can cycle, walk and even take your dog (on a lead) with you. At Oberwald Animal Park, people and animals are meant to be in the fresh, unspoiled forest air. The animal enclosures are deliberately left raw and uncultivated on natural forest ground.
