Castle garden
The Schlossgarten is a large garden area behind Karlsruhe Palace, which was laid out in the style of an English landscape park in 1967 on the occasion of the Federal Garden Show. This is where people meet for a picnic, do sport, relax from the stress of everyday life or take a long stroll through the city.
Description
Sculptures from the Baroque to the modern era, monuments, fountains from different eras and the Stadtgartensee lake enliven the green spaces. This is where the people of Karlsruhe relax from the stress of everyday life with sunbathing and picnics.
With the water lily and pheasant gardens and the "Schlossgartenbähnle", the Schlossgarten offers a variety of recreational opportunities. Since 2000, a striking beam of 1645 blue ceramic tiles has cut through the meadow. It marks a former axis that leads directly to the castle park wall and from there on to the State Majolica Manufactory. In contrast to the city garden, access is generally free of charge. To the west of the palace is the entrance to the Botanical Gardens.
