Visible after the Kunsthalle closes in November 2021: the highlights of the Kunsthalle collection from the
Kunsthalle collection from the late Middle Ages to the present day
the present - a cross-section of the collection with works by Matthias
Grünewald, Cézanne and many other artists. The new context
also offers the opportunity for a change of perspective: the familiar works
are displayed in the galleries of the ZKM - designed by the Merz+Merz
will appear in a new and different light in the ZKM galleries.
The prologue is a cinematic "threshold space" by Anna Henckel
Donnersmarck. The multi-channel projection visualizes the actual site of the art
place of the art, the abandoned building on Hans-Thoma-Strasse.
New accents in the tour are set by a high-ranking foundation of
paintings from the early modern period, excerpts from a new photographic
collection, a newly restored masterpiece and rarely shown graphic works from the
graphic works from the Kupferstichkabinett. The presentation is intended as a
flexible discussion program, which will be supplemented in 2023 by the
presentations in the Orangery and the Young Art Gallery in Hans
Thoma-Straße have been added.
The Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe sees itself as a mediator between past, present and future.
The focus is not only on preserving the legacy of several
centuries, but also the current dialog with the historical collection and its
