Temple Cultural Center
The Tempel cultural center on the site of the former Seldeneck'sche brewery is a unique, listed building. It has also been an independent socio-cultural center since 1984, run by the Kulturverein Tempel e. V. as initiator and landlord.
Description
What is unique for Karlsruhe is that the temple is not just a stage for events, but above all a "breeding ground" for art, culture and social issues. People work and rehearse here in studios and on stages. Here, artists and cultural workers have the rare space they need before their big public appearance. And a place for youth, district and cultural associations to develop their commitment.
The task of filling a cultural monument with living culture forms the basis and the claim for joint action. Not just in the "craft" sense, but in the social and cultural sense. Cultural projects are created in the temple in a way that is only possible through physical proximity, the creation of a shared infrastructure and daily interaction. These collaborations result in regular events for the public.
The sponsor and initiator of the socio-cultural center is Kulturverein Tempel e. V., which also acts as landlord for the approximately 30 tenants. Kulturverein Tempel e. V. sees itself as a cultural promotion association for local artists.
