Maulbronn Monastery
Maulbronn Monastery is considered to be the most completely preserved medieval Cistercian monastery complex north of the Alps. Maulbronn Monastery owes its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site to this preservation.
Description
In addition to the monastery, the farm buildings from the time of the Cistercian monks, workshops and granaries, residential buildings, walls and towers have also been preserved here in Maulbronn. Half-timbered buildings from the late Middle Ages to the 19th century are lined up close together to form an entire monastery town.
There is also plenty to discover around the monastery. The monastery vineyard, fish ponds and irrigation channels in the surrounding countryside are silent witnesses to the centuries-old agricultural tradition.
