Günther-Klotz plant
The Günther-Klotz-Anlage is a beautifully situated green area between Südweststadt and Grünwinkel, which is affectionately known as the "Klotze". With the Alb river flowing through it, the spacious play and sunbathing areas, a playground, several small lakes, a boat rental, a basketball court and much more, the Günther-Klotz-Anlage offers an ideal urban recreation area.
Description
The park was named after Lord Mayor Günther Klotz. The 10 million DM project was started in 1976 and one of the largest inner-city recreational areas in Germany was created outside of a garden show. In 1989, the Günther Klotz course was the competition site for orienteering at the World Games.
Once a year, DAS FEST, one of the largest open-air events in Germany, takes place in the "Klotze". The park can be reached by S-Bahn from the "Europahalle" or "Kühler Krug" stops.
