Günther-Klotz plant
The Günther-Klotz Park is a beautifully situated green space between Südweststadt and Grünwinkel, affectionately known locally as “Klotze.”
With the Alb River flowing through it, spacious areas for playing and relaxing,
a playground, several small lakes, a boat rental service, a
basketball court, and much more, the Günther-Klotz Park offers an
ideal urban recreational area.
The park was named after Lord Mayor Günther Klotz. The 10 million DM project was started in 1976 and one of the largest inner-city recreational areas in Germany was created outside of a garden show. In 1989, the Günther Klotz course was the competition site for orienteering at the World Games.
Once a year, DAS FEST, one of the largest open-air events in Germany, takes place in the "Klotze". The park can be reached by S-Bahn from the "Europahalle" or "Kühler Krug" stops.
