Cyclists can use it to carry out everyday repairs themselves around the clock in the event of minor problems on the road. According to the Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club, repair stations have been on the rise in northern Germany for several years. They are not yet very widespread in southern Germany.
The aim of Karlsruhe's swimming pools is to make them more bicycle-friendly by offering the repair stations free of charge, as bicycles score points compared to traveling by car: CO2-free mobility is good for the environment, the bike is quiet and the riders are provided with fresh air and exercise, which in turn is good for their health. In addition, bicycles require less parking space, which is a significant advantage, especially in city centers and in the parking lots of public baths.
The Ferchau company is a partner in the realization of the repair station: "We immediately found this project worth supporting," explained Mr. Dockhorn-Kelly, branch manager of the Karlsruhe site, at the official inauguration with pool manager Oliver Sternagel.
