The Badisches Landesmuseum is one of the most active museums in Germany and presents its collections in various museums.
The Baden State Museum
In Karlsruhe Palace, the Baden State Museum presents art and historical worlds from prehistory and early history to ancient cultures, the Middle Ages and the Baroque period through to the 21st century. As a universal museum of cultural history, it presents the culture of Baden in a cross-genre dialog with evidence of the cultures of the world with a focus on Europe.
The collections date back to the two Baden-Margravial ruling lines of Baden-Durlach and Baden-Baden. These include the Kunst- und Wunderkammer, a collection of historical war and hunting weapons and an outstanding coin cabinet. The so-called Turkish booty, which was collected in the 18th century and combines Ottoman war equipment and arts and crafts, is of international importance.
The Badisches Landesmuseum regularly attracts visitors from near and far to Karlsruhe Palace with top-class special archaeological exhibitions.
"I, Karl Wilhelm"
In the castle tower, the geographical center of Karlsruhe, the film experience "I, Karl Wilhelm! The Legend of My City" takes visitors back to the Baroque era and lets them share in the thoughts of the legendary founder of Karlsruhe, Margrave Karl-Wilhelm von Baden-Durlach. Afterwards, the view from the observation terrace of the tower offers a panorama over the unique fan-shaped city complex to the Black Forest, the Palatinate Mountains and the Vosges Mountains in France.
