Durlach

Durlach is the largest district in the fan-shaped city and is shaped by the beautiful backdrop of the historical Old Town. With some 30,000 residents and a quaint town centre, Durlach has created the perfect small-town flair – a wonderful setting for a relaxed shopping trip!

Would you like to browse the shops, wander around the farmers’ market or explore the Kruschtlmarkt without all of the crowds? In Durlach, that’s no problem. The eastern district of Durlach is quieter than Karlsruhe city centre, but still has a vibrant mix of many independent businesses, meaning that it is pleasant but also something very special, just like the medieval Christmas market – the top tourist magnet in Durlach. Among bonfires and musicians, this very different kind of Christmas market holds a few surprises, not just for children, but for the adults too.

The Turmberg tower is also very popular. A viewing platform high above the rooftops of the city will give you a once-in-a-lifetime view of the entire fan-shaped city. Paired with the finest gourmet cuisine and the smallest Christmas market in Baden each year, you can spend some wonderful hours up at the top.

Durlach is easy to reach using public transport. You will be best off changing at the Kronenplatz interchange, which is located centrally. Would you like to know when the next tram to Durlach will arrive? Click here.
