Guided Tour of the Port's Central Basin

You can learn how the complex—which now covers a little over 300 hectares—has developed and how it is used today on a tour along the central basin.

Time: 4 :00–4:45 p.m., 5:00–5:45 p.m. 

Meeting place: At the MS Karlsruhe dock (right next to the middle harbor basin)

Led by: Georg Hertweck, stattreisen Karlsruhe e.V.

Accessibility: completely barrier-free

Weather-dependent: takes place outdoors, with the option of sheltering under cover

  • With its trimodal—that is, three-way—transport network, the Rhine Port serves as Karlsruhe’s gateway to the world for freight traffic. Cargo is transported, stored, and processed by ship, rail, or truck. And it has been doing so for exactly 125 years, since the first ship entered the port in 1901.
