Monument routes
On Open Monument Day 2026, discover what makes our city so special—places steeped in history, memories, and significance. For a comprehensive experience, themed heritage routes invite you to explore. Along these routes, true to the motto “NetzWERKE: Heritage Sites & Infrastructure—Historic Buildings That Move and Connect Us,” you can experience how heritage sites bring people together, thereby fostering exchange, movement, and social cohesion.
A special highlight during the anniversary year commemorating Friedrich Weinbrenner, the first person to advocate for the preservation of historical monuments, is the “Weinbrenner Route” , which takes you past many of his impressive works.
Each route has a specific focus, connects selected monuments, and offers a clear starting point and destination. Whether you are a nature lover, architecture fan, music lover, family with children, or have limited mobility, there is something for everyone here.
Clicking on the route tile opens details about the route and the individual stops. Additional tiles provide insights into monuments along the way.
All routes are suggestions: They can be adapted or combined as desired. So everyone can find out for themselves what "valuable" means to them.
