In 2024, the entire city center was once again transformed into a decentralized stage and exhibition space for media art, illuminations and luminous actions for four weeks as part of the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival.
This year, the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Karlsruhe returned to the baroque façade of Karlsruhe Palace for the 10th time, transforming it into a digital work of art for numerous visitors from all over the world. To mark the 75th anniversary of the German constitution, the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE focused on the topics of law and democracy.
The SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Karlsruhe took place for the first time in 2015 to mark the 300th anniversary of the city and have been delighting international audiences every summer ever since. Over two million people have already visited the art experience on the 170-metre-long baroque palace façade.

The SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival is a festival for projection mapping in which video projections are projected onto the baroque façade of Karlsruhe Palace. International artists develop new 3D video mapping shows for the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE Light Festival every year.
The result is one of the largest audiovisual digital artworks in Europe.

We recommend arriving by bicycle or public transport. Bicycle parking is available on the Schlossplatz. The bus stop "Marktplatz" is only a few meters away from the castle.
Arrival by train
From Karlsruhe main station, streetcars and S-Bahn lines 2, S1, S4, S11 and S52 run to Marktplatz (Pyramide and Kaiserstrasse). From here it is only a 2-minute walk to Schlossplatz.
Arrival by car
Take the A5 towards Frankfurt/Basel or the A8 towards Stuttgart/Mannheim Frankfurt to reach Karlsruhe. After the "Zentrum" exit, follow the white signs marked "Schloss". You can park your car in the Schlossplatz underground parking garage or in the "Zirkel" parking garage (open 24 hours).
