A Ray of Sunshine in a Head of Lettuce (Includes audio description)
This story takes place inside someone's head! To be precise, inside Sarah's grandfather's head, where things are getting mixed up and more and more is being lost. Two hard-working amino acids named Argi and Tyra are doing their best to stop the loss of memories. But they can't prevent David from becoming less and less like himself.
First, he forgets what numbers and arithmetic are called (mathematics!), then he forgets his first kiss and whether he got dressed (he didn't!), and finally, he doesn't recognize his granddaughter Sarah. Fortunately, he doesn't lose his sense of humor. At least not before he can share with Sarah how important laughter is, especially in difficult times.
Holger Schober's sensitive play about dementia tells the story of what such an illness can mean for those affected and their families. In many small scenes, it offers insights into a long human life and asks what defines us and our relationships. In her first work as a director, Nora Klaus, together with Argi, Tyra, and the young audience, explores a difficult topic that moves people of all generations in a way that is sometimes playful, sometimes sad, always sincere, and, at the very end, a little bit kitschy.
The production can also be booked for schools and institutions.
