An exhibition exploring the sensory dimension of media art: "Silver Egg " brings together mythology, philosophy, and contemporary artistic practices, inviting visitors to take a fresh look at perception, creativity, and social issues.
Silver Egg. The Sensuality of Media Art at the ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe explores how media art can help us experience the world not only analytically, but also sensually and directly. The exhibition takes as its starting point the figure of Eros, who is understood in mythology and philosophy as a creative force of connection and renewal. The eponymous silver egg symbolizes origin, possibility, and creative potential.
Some 50 international artistic works offer diverse perspectives on perception, intuition, and insight. The exhibition brings media art into dialogue with philosophical questions and explores contrasts such as reason and emotion, science and myth, and representation and direct experience. Installations, audiovisual works, and other experimental media create an exhibition space in which these themes can be explored not only intellectually but also through the senses.
At the heart of the exhibition is the idea that creativity and insight arise from the interplay of thought, feeling, and experience. Against the backdrop of current societal challenges, Silver Egg encourages visitors to experience media art as a space for new perspectives and shared reflection.
