SAMANTHA FISH
The Kansas City-born musician was actually supposed to go on tour with Kenny Wayne Shepherd in 2020 to show just how captivating and rousing a blonde guitarist and singer can be in her interpretation of classic African-American blues. After several tour postponements, Shepherd then made other plans.
Samantha Fish doesn't see herself as a traditional blues musician, but the blues, which she fell in love with at an early age, means everything to her. "When Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf became famous, their music sounded like nothing from the blues past. You should keep that kind of drive and courage. I'll never play Muddy Waters better than Muddy Waters, so I'd rather stay who I am," says Fish, who left the status of promising talent behind her long ago after releasing five albums. In the meantime, her musical development has also continued.
In 2022, the EP "The Stardust Sessions" was released with the track "Brand New Cadillac". On board is a certain Jesse Dayton, who rocks through the song with her. Jesse Dayton is no stranger to the scene, having worked with the likes of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Rob Zombie. Following the "Stardust Sessions EP", "Death Wish Blues" is a complete album for all blues-rock fans in this powerful Fish-Dayton constellation, which is now going on tour.
