FILM AND CONVERSATION WITH FRANK RICHTER
The Peaceful Revolution in Saxony in 1989/90 fundamentally changed people's lives. Demonstrations by large sections of the population gave rise to new political forces, such as the Group of 20 in Dresden. From October 1989, the SED state party of the GDR lost influence and power. The film tells of these events in selected Saxon towns and regions: Dresden, Plauen, Leipzig and Delitzsch as well as Großhennersdorf and Zittau in Upper Lusatia, Bad Schlema and Aue in the Ore Mountains. The result of the Peaceful Revolution in the GDR was German reunification.
After the screening, Gesine Oltmanns and Frank Richter will talk about the content of the film and then open the discussion to the audience.
