Ballet evening with choreography by Kristina Paulin, Raimondo Rebeck, and Mauro Bigonzetti
Light, rhythm, energy. Beacon. The three-part ballet evening is dedicated to the new program of the State Ballet: from the premiere of a narrative ballet to a modern classic.
To mark the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka's death, the new resident choreographer Kristina Paulin is staging a world premiere based on Kafka's enigmatic novel fragment The Castle, depicting a disturbing world of bureaucratic intrigue, power, and the desperate search for belonging and identity. The new ballet director Raimondo Rebeck introduces himself in Karlsruhe as a choreographer with A Journey of a Memory. In his very personal exploration of farewell and loss, he shows how memories and perceptions slowly but inexorably fade away, yet the hope for happiness never dies. And with Cantata, the energetic ode to beauty, southern passion, and joie de vivre by the great Italian choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti can be seen for the first time in Karlsruhe.
