Street at Forum 1, 76131 Karlsruhe
Spectacular drone show for KIT's 200th anniversary: 200 illuminated drones tell the story of research and innovation with light and sound - climate-friendly, impressive and in the middle of Karlsruhe.Â
On July 4, 2025, the people of Karlsruhe will be able to open their eyes, look up into the evening sky and be amazed. To mark its 200th anniversary, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is presenting the light show "KIT Skylights - A Celebration of Innovation". It is the first of its kind in Karlsruhe. Between 10:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., 200 of the small flying objects will rise into the sky from the Audimax on KIT's South Campus (Straße am Forum 1, 76131 Karlsruhe). The 15-minute show tells the story of KIT and its innovative power - from yesterday to tomorrow - with acoustic accompaniment.
The best viewing and listening experience of "KIT Skylights - A Celebration of Innovation" is offered to viewers in a designated area: The Skyview Area is located at the Forum directly in front of the Audimax. The adjacent open spaces can also be used for viewing. The show is a climate-friendly alternative to traditional fireworks and can be seen within a radius of around two kilometers. The acoustic accompaniment can also be followed via the LiveVoice audio channel using a cell phone, app or web browser. The corresponding instructions will be posted on the fences on site.
Safety note: For the safety and well-being of all guests, bulky items such as chairs, parasols, tripods or selfie sticks are not permitted in the Skyview Area. Means of transportation must be parked at the bicycle racks. Pets are only allowed outside the Skyview Area, with the exception of assistance dogs.
The event will be postponed in the event of bad weather.Â
