INDEPENDENT DAYS invites you to experience the creativity and diversity of international independent cinema in Karlsruhe. Moving away from big blockbusters, the festival presents a hand-picked program of poetic short films, moving documentaries, and a supporting program that invites you not only to reflect but also to get involved.Â
What makes independent films so special? They were produced outside of major film studios and without market-driven constraints. This gives filmmakers the opportunity to give each film a unique touch and to creatively explore a wide variety of themes.
You can expect a wide variety of genres and themes covered by the films. From crossing boundaries and identity to the question of meaning in a technologized world: The stories are told in creative, inspiring, and often surprising ways, offering fresh perspectives on familiar situations.
This year, we’re also offering an XR Area at the Badische Landesbibliothek from Monday through Saturday, where you can immerse yourself in various films using VR headsets.
