AVATAR
Special guests: VEIL OF MAYA and SONIC ASSAULT
Avatar will be coming to Germany for six concerts in spring 2022, one of which will be in Karlsruhe. The Gothenburg-based band around singer Johannes Eckerström deliberately chose their band name a decade ago, because an avatar - the appearance of a divine being in the form of a person - describes how the frontman and his bandmates feel. In their world of melodic death metal, Avatar occupy the throne as dark visionaries of the genre. Founded 11 years ago as Lost Soul, Avatar made their debut under their current band name in 2006 with "Thoughts Of No Tomorrow". This was followed by seven studio albums - most recently last year's "Hunter Gatherer"
- and rapid success that immediately spread beyond the borders of Europe. With their latest work, Avatar are taking their career to the next level. "Hunter Gatherer" is the band's darkest release to date. Thematically, the Swedes move between themes such as cruelty, technology, contempt and loss on this record. With songs such as "A Secret Door", "Colossus" and "Age Of Apes", Avatar present dark anthems for the
modern age. With "Hunter Gatherer", the Swedes extend their reach even further and re-establish their roots. However, this does not detract from their commercial success. Avatar secured their place on the playlists of commercial radio stations years ago and they are constantly gaining new fans thanks to the streaming option of their music. Songs such as "The Eagle Has Landed", "Hail The Apocalypse" and "Let It Burn" have now been streamed over 100 million times.
Avatar live in a world where heavy metal rules. Next spring, the dark visionaries will be coming to Germany for six concerts.
