With a direct connection to Marktplatz and Kaiserstraße, Schlossplatz is one of the most popular places in the city center. But Schlossplatz offers more than just a view of the baroque palace - it is the center of the fan-shaped city: the straight fan-shaped streets Waldstraße, Herrenstraße, Ritterstraße, Lammstraße, Karl-Friedrich-Straße and Kronenstraße meet here and thus form the outline of the famous fan.

Schlossplatz is also the venue for numerous events in Karlsruhe. Whether the world-famous SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE, the Stadtwerke EISZEIT at Christmas time or the Foodtruck Convention in September.

As Baden’s longest shopping street, Kaiserstraße is renowned all over Karlsruhe and is adored by young and old alike. A vibrant mixture of renowned labels and independent shops give the focal point of the fan-shaped city its unique charm.

The semi-circular section of road in front of the square at Karlsruhe Palace is known as the “Zirkel” in the fan-shaped city. Famous for its numerous art galleries and historic political buildings, the Zirkel attracts more than just art lovers.

Karl-Friedrich-Straße is a key transport link and the central point of the city. With historical buildings and political venues like the Town Hall or the place of the fundamental rights, Karl-Friedrich-Strasse offers you not only a wide array of shops, it also has plenty of historical value – a street with a past and a future.

The golden core

The Marktplatz is the most well-known square in the fan-shaped city. It forms the core of Karlsruhe’s city centre and is the crux of the urban cultural scene in Karlsruhe, alongside Kaiserstraße. It is also home to the hallmark of the city: the Pyramid.
