Certified child and family-friendly

Shop, dine, and enjoy cultural and recreational activities at places where families and children are especially welcome and will be taken care of with comprehensive service – what family wouldn’t want that?

The City Initiative Karlsruhe (CIK) has collaborated with the Karlsruhe Alliance for Family and a network of professional partners to develop the “Child and Family-Friendly Service” project. Together with a network of certified partners, they issue the certificate for “Child and Family-Friendly Service”. As the only initiative of its kind nationwide, this certificate is setting standards for a new way of thinking in service that focus more on families with children in the future.

With this certificate for child and family-friendly service, Karlsruhe, a city for shopping and exploration, wishes to offer the optimal conditions for families with respect to service and shopping, promote child and family-friendly policies in businesses and establish it as a defining factor for the region. Across all industries, this will address topics like: “Family-friendly and helpful staff.” –

“Are the entrances and aisles navigable with a pram?” – “Is there a children’s toilet or baby changing facility?”
