Discover the town twinning from a new perspective
Karlsruhe and Nancy are just 200 kilometers apart and yet they were worlds apart until the end of the Second World War. After the war, it became clear that the hereditary enmity between Germany and France had to be ended. And so, as a sign of international understanding, Karlsruhe and Nancy entered into a partnership in 1955 that is still very much alive 70 years later. Associations, schools and the city administration of both cities have been in active exchange for many years.
How did the partnership come about shortly after the Second World War? What does a school exchange have to do with it? What current projects are there? Our experienced tour guides not only convey historical facts in German or French, but also reveal the people and stories behind them.
The tour, which lasts around an hour and a half, visits selected places that are important for the town twinning. For example, a street, a hall and a fountain in Karlsruhe have been named after the French twin city.

For the festival weekend on June 28, 2025, there will also be a promotional campaign by the Office de Tourisme du Grand Nancy at the Tourist Information Office in the Schaufenster Karlsruhe. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., there will be lots of information about Karlsruhe's twin city.
