The “Culinary Tour of Karlsruhe” is the perfect way to discover the city’s culinary delights. On this special tour of Baden, participants can choose to explore either the lively downtown area or the charming Durlach district with its medieval old town, stopping at select restaurants along the way.
Participants take their time to savor the experience, discovering the diversity of Baden cuisine on their plates and the stories behind them. Between courses, they take a leisurely stroll through the city—past historic landmarks, winding alleys, and the hidden corners of the fan-shaped city.
The group activity at the Badisch Brauhaus’s in-house brewery in Karlsruhe isn’t just about enjoying the beer—it’s about trying your hand at it yourself. Together with master brewer Peter Kopf, participants immerse themselves in the art of beer brewing and learn the intricacies of this craft step by step. Afterward, they can put their skills to the test during a tapping session at the beer keg. At the end, successful brewing apprentices receive the coveted Badisch Brauhaus Beer Diploma—served, of course, in the original glass.

Located in the impressive building of a former munitions factory in the heart of Karlsruhe, the Kulturquartier Hallenbau is Hallenbau the most exciting venues for art, education, and research in all of Germany. With its ten distinctive atriums, it showcases over 600 years of art and brings together four major cultural institutions under one roof: The ZKM | Center for Art and Media is known for its innovative media art, while the Kunstmuseum Karlsruhe invites visitors to experience contemporary art through new and exciting formats. The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG) presents creative design exhibitions.
Right next door, you can discover highlights from the collection of the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe—including works by Matthias Grünewald and Paul Cézanne.
You can also experience culture on an exciting group tour of the Badisches Staatstheater. As one of the largest multi-disciplinary theaters, it combines classical elements such as ballet and opera with innovative digital theater. The tour opens doors that would otherwise remain hidden from the public. Away from the stage, participants can take a look behind the scenes together, directly into the artists’ workshops, and learn what happens before and after a performance. They’ll also hear exciting and funny stories straight from the source.
Enjoy nature right in the heart of the city—slow down along the Alb
Anyone looking to take a moment to pause amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life and experience a quieter side of Karlsruhe will find a special taste of nature right in the heart of the city on the guided walk “From Weststadt to the Alb.” The approximately 6.5-kilometer tour winds its way along babbling streams, idyllic riverside paths, and green meadows through Karlsruhe’s “green belt,” uniquely blending the natural environment with the urban landscape. Starting at the south entrance of the main train station, the route follows the Alb River through the Günther-Klotz-Anlage, continuing through the Mühlburg district with its impressive Wilhelminian-style facades, before the tour finally concludes at Karlsruhe’s popular Gutenbergplatz with a refreshing drink in a lively atmosphere.
Enjoy with all your senses—on a mindful stroll through the palace gardens
Mindcoach Alexandra Mayer’s mindful sensory walk offers a special escape from everyday life against the atmospheric backdrop of the Karlsruhe Palace Gardens. The tour invites you to consciously slow down and discover the nature surrounding the Baroque Karlsruhe Palace—just a stone’s throw from the city—with all your senses. Passing by secluded paths and hidden spots, the focus is on pausing to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel: hugging trees, walking barefoot, taking in the scent of flowers and herbs, or simply listening to the rustling of the leaves. Along the way, there are frequent short mindfulness and breathing exercises to help you fully arrive in the here and now. A special highlight at the end is the mindful enjoyment of a chocolate truffle, as its flavors unfold bit by bit.
