Associations play a key role in shaping the German meetings market and are responsible for around a third of sales in the meetings sector. From August 30 to September 1, 2024, the Convention Bureau Karlsruhe & Region is therefore offering association experts from all over Germany the unique opportunity to see the exciting and varied locations in and around Karlsruhe for themselves.
The Convention Bureau is cooperating with Connexion, the network for association events. This results in numerous synergies for the Study Tour, explains Pia Kumpmann, Head of the Convention Bureau: "Through Connexion, we reach this important target group and can facilitate a direct exchange and better networking with our hotels, event locations and service providers in the region. At the same time, with the Study Tour to Karlsruhe and the region, we offer associations and organizations expert knowledge, inspiring impulses and the opportunity to get to know attractive event locations."
Kurhaus, trade fair, wildlife park, ZKM: locations with many facets
The three-day association information trip offers numerous insights into attractive locations in Karlsruhe and the region that are suitable for member meetings, seminars or closed conferences. Karlsruhe is a MICE location with over 300 events and up to 800,000 visitors every year, with two locations, the Karlsruhe Congress Center in the city centre and the exhibition grounds in Rheinstetten. There is a wide range of accommodation options for business travelers in Karlsruhe, as the study tour shows with a few examples: the Achat Hotel Karlsruhe City, the City NOVOTEL Karlsruhe, the Radisson Blu Karlsruhe and the "new additions" IntercityHotel Karlsruhe, MOXY Karlsruhe and Motel One Karlsruhe.
The tour continues to the Convention Bureau's newest partner: BBBank Wildpark is the new stadium of Karlsruher SC. The blue and white living room is a flagship of the region and stands for emotion, passion and the combination of modernity and tradition. In addition to match days, the BBBank Wildpark is brought to life for numerous events. The ZKM | Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe is one of the best and most influential museums in the world. The cultural institution is housed in a listed industrial building of a former munitions factory and offers plenty of space for events with its impressive atriums. Another visit takes you to the elegant spa town of Baden-Baden: The Kurhaus was designed in the 19th century by master architect Friedrich Weinbrenner in the classicist style and houses the casino as well as numerous event rooms.
In between, participants will receive regular input from experienced association experts who will deepen their understanding of the current challenges and opportunities in the area of member retention and member acquisition. For example, Lisa Reich from CAS Software AG, the German market leader for customer relationship management, will explain the major role that "digitalization" and "member centricity (CRM)" play in successful member relationship management today. Stefan Eser from FANOMICS® explains how an association can turn its members into fans through successful events: "The Fan Principle is a management handbook that shows how companies can turn their customers into fans and benefit from this.
The Study Tour program also provides participants with plenty of time for discussions and networking, for example at the culinary highlight "Gaumenfreuden" at the 5-star superior Hotel Erbprinz in Ettlingen or at the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELEN Karlsruhe, when the baroque façade of Karlsruhe Palace is transformed into the largest screen in southern Germany.
