Arousing enthusiasm for the diversity of Karlsruhe's beer culture: successful premiere of the "Long Night of Breweries"

Passion, tradition and conviviality: this unique combination is what makes craft brewing in Karlsruhe so special. The successful premiere of the "Long Night of Breweries" on June 7, 2024 showed just how diverse Karlsruhe's beer culture is. The new event format organized by KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH attracted more than 1600 guests to an enjoyable brewery tour through the fan-shaped city.

Pascal Rastetter, Managing Director of KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH, is delighted with the positive feedback: "All participants were completely enthusiastic and there was praise from all sides for the new concept of the "Long Night of Breweries". Similar to KAMUNA, the Karlsruhe Museum Night, the aim is to bring an important cultural asset of the city to life and to promote it. And beer is quite simply an important aspect of the Baden way of life and culture in Karlsruhe, which used to be the third largest beer production site in Germany."

Six Karlsruhe breweries took part in the "Long Night": Badisch Brauhaus, Fächerbräu, Hoepfner, Moninger as well as Vogelbräu Karlsruhe and Vogelbräu Durlach. With one ticket, guests were able to sample beer from all the breweries - from traditional varieties to creative new creations. To get everyone safely through the night, the ticket also included free travel on buses and trains operated by Karlsruhe's public transport system.

An enjoyable and entertaining accompanying program

The program at the breweries was impressive: During guided tours, the participants immersed themselves in the art of brewing beer, exciting knowledge included: What do you have to consider when brewing? How is the wide variety of beers possible despite the German Purity Law? The brewers were happy to answer the numerous questions and even let you look over their shoulders and into their kettles.

In addition to the supporting program, music and beer olympics ensured a great atmosphere. The delicious food offered a wide selection of classic grilled food such as sausages and steaks, burgers and grilled vegetables. The great atmosphere inside and outside invited guests to linger. The weather was great and people were happy to stay longer than planned.

KTG CEO Pascal Rastetter is positive about the response from guests and breweries: "As the driving force and organizer of the "Long Night of Breweries", we are proud that the premiere was such a success. The impressions and experience gained are the best basis for starting planning for 2025 with all Karlsruhe breweries. Our special thanks go to the participating breweries, who contributed to an authentic experience with their individual programs."
