Four institutions under one roof - the cultural quarter in Karlsruhe

In a unique merger, the ZKM and the Städtische Galerie first moved into the building of the old munitions factory, followed shortly afterwards by the Hochschule für Gestaltung. The institutions at Hallenbau Karlsruhe
Four cultural institutions are housed in the Hallenbau Karlsruhe. The Staatliche Kunsthalle exhibits parts of its collection in the KunsthalleKarlsruhe@ZKM. The ZKM | Center for Art and Media is known for its innovative media art. The Hochschule für Gestaltung (HfG ) shows creative design exhibitions, while the Städtische Galerie presents contemporary art with a focus on regional artists.

The Hallenbau in Karlsruhe, originally built as an ammunition factory, was converted into a cultural center in the 1990s.
