Online concepts for the
Karlsruhe retail sector
Artificial intelligence, GEO, social media, influencer marketing, and video content—the digital world is evolving rapidly year after year. But while these trends are ubiquitous, many retailers are not yet fully exploiting their potential.
However, a strong, future-oriented online presence is just as important today as an attractive brick-and-mortar store in order to remain successful in the long term.
In order to further develop the retail sector in Karlsruhe digitally, the Karlsruhe City Marketing in cooperation with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), is facilitating a practice-oriented exchange between students and individual stores in Karlsruhe's city center for the fifth time in 2026.
In recent years, KIT students have already helped a total of 18 selected retailers and restaurateurs in downtown Karlsruhe optimize their online presence—whether through website optimization, targeted online ad strategies, the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, or effective social media marketing. This year, the students are once again working with selected stores to analyze their current needs, develop a tailor-made concept, and put it directly into practice. This provides the companies with valuable digital tools for a sustainable combination of brick-and-mortar retail and online presence.
The project will take place again this year during the summer semester, i.e. from the beginning of May to mid-July 2026.
A cooperation of KME Karlsruhe Marketing and Event GmbH and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
