Cooperative approaches bear fruit

"The further development of city centers is a joint task for all stakeholders: the city, property owners, tradespeople, educational institutions and citizens. Many creative measures have already been successfully implemented in Karlsruhe," emphasized Hoffmeister-Kraut after a tour of various districts.

Innovative concepts for the city center

One highlight was the visit to the small church in Östliche Kaiserstraße. Last year, the parish actively participated in the neighborhood design and created a green recreational area. In addition, the idea of "co-churching" - co-working workspaces in the church's gallery - was born and will be continued in 2025.

Also the KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbH also presented its cooperative concepts for the development of the marketplace. It was awarded the Tourism 2025 Innovation Prize for this at the beginning of the year.

Networking and sustainable urban development

During the exchange with the neighborhood management of "Central Kaiserstrasse" it became clear how successful the networking work in Karlsruhe is. Lord Mayor Dr. Frank Mentrup emphasized: "Many of the measures initiated are already having an effect. The close exchange and joint activities are crucial for sustainable inner city development."

Finally, the Minister and the Lord Mayor visited the cooperatively organized Impact Hub in the Östliche Kaiserstraße. This innovative work and meeting place was originally funded by the "City Transformation" project and has since established itself as an integral part of Karlsruhe's city center.

Further projects and campaigns

In addition to these highlights, many other initiatives have been implemented in recent years, including floor paintings in the Kaiserstrasse and in the Passagehofmobile street furniture on the market square and micro-hubs for sustainable city center logistics. These projects illustrate the creative and cooperative approach with which Karlsruhe is making its city center fit for the future.
