"billevesées" the pop-up installation by the French group Picto Facto - A firework of colors
Quartier Central Kaiserstrasse
For the opening of the SCHLOSSLICHTSPIELE, visitors to the central Kaiserstraße were treated to a lively and playful pop-up installation by French group Picto Facto. On 18 and 19 August 2023, the cheerful and colorful lights entitled "billevesées" invited visitors to linger and discover - whether standing or sitting, in community or alone, in conversation or in silence. This temporary world of light served as a spontaneous photo and selfie spot for numerous visitors and enchanted them with light art full of creativity and magic.
"Absorbed by Light" - A mirror of our time
Quartier Südliche Waldstraße (inner courtyard Waldstraße 54 (Restaurant Stövchen)
The light installation "Absorbed by Light" transported viewers into the world of modern technology and reflected our relationship with virtual reality. Designed by the talented British artist Gali May Lucas and masterfully executed by the Berlin sculptor Karoline Hinz, the installation showed three figures on a bench with typical characteristics of smartphone users. With lowered heads, fingers on screens and faces illuminated by the light of their phones, they represented our increasing immersion in the digital world.
"Die Kugel" - disco feeling in the heart of the city center
Another impressive highlight of the Light Festival 2023 was the light installation "The Sphere" by Nils-R. Schultze & Felix Müller on Karlsruhe's market square. The monumental disco ball not only embodied the vibrant club and music culture, but also blended seamlessly into the historic Weinbrenner architecture.
"Vanishing points" - A transformative journey
Eastern Kaiserstrasse quarter
The light installation "Vanishing Points" in the TRIANGEL Open Space at Kronenplatz in Karlsruhe, Germany, offered visitors an abstract representation of the transformative nature of our existence. With two laser projectors facing each other and symbolic black dividers representing our journey through life, a captivating art form was created. This installation invited visitors to explore the transformative nature of our existence and provoke profound reflection.
