Fun and games at the
Kaiserstraße children's construction site

September 16 to 20, 2024 |
Kaiserstraße between Marktplatz & Ritterstraße

Introduction

Attention, children's construction site!

While construction sites usually have a high fence, many prohibition signs and no room for children for safety reasons, Karlsruhe's Kaiserstraße was transformed into a discovery space in the first construction phase from September 16 to 20, 2024, inviting all children to build and play in the middle of the city center.

Program

On five consecutive afternoons, the little builders were able to experience a free hands-on program at the "children's construction site" and, for example, design their own hard hat, build a mini house or get a forklift driver's license - right where the construction work for the redesign of Kaiserstrasse is being carried out under the leadership of the city's civil engineering department. redesign of Kaiserstraße are being driven forward.

A sandpit on the corner of Karl-Friedrich-Straße near vomFASS. From Monday afternoon to Sunday evening, people could dig and build to their heart's content between around 10:00 and 18:00.

The KME Karlsruhe Marketing and Event GmbH and the Civil Engineering Department of the City of Karlsruhe hope you enjoy discovering the construction site!

Magic & balloon show "Tilo, Chico & the magic suitcase" | 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm

Kaiserstraße near the tourist information office

The magician, clown and balloon entertainer Tilo Schoppe provided lots of fun and magic at the children's construction site with his show. Tilo also had his magic assistant Chico with him. He wanted to perform magic himself and sometimes almost drove Tilo to despair. And of course the children had to help. The absolute highlight of the show was a giant yellow balloon - or was it a lemon?

  • Forklift course | 14:00 - 19:00

Kaiserstraße near the tourist information office

Up to four forklift trucks were used to navigate the course. They passed traffic signs, zig-zagged through the pylon slalom and had to stack pallets on top of each other. Those who successfully overcame all the hurdles were awarded their forklift driver's license.

    Water construction site | 14:00 - 19:00

Market square at the height of the fountains

The young builders were able to construct their own water labyrinth on the market square with great concentration. Using buckets or watering cans, the water was then directed into the pipes and flowed along the constructed guidance system.
