Dear guests, we would like to inform you that the city of Karlsruhe will be levying an overnight stay tax, the so-called City Tax, from July 1, 2025. It will be used to promote and finance tourism and cultural projects in Karlsruhe. Who is affected? All persons who stay overnight in Karlsruhe for a fee are liable to pay the tax. This applies equally to business travelers and tourists. Children and young people who have not yet reached the age of 18 are exempt. How high is the tax? The tax is a flat rate per overnight stay and overnight guest. The flat tax rate is 3.50 euros per overnight stay and accommodation guest in the period from July 1 to December 31, 2025. It will be charged by the accommodation provider in addition to the accommodation price and invoiced separately.
