Good day, We would like to inform you that the city of Karlsruhe has been charging an accommodation tax, known as the City Tax, since July 1, 2025. This tax is used to promote and finance tourism and cultural projects in Karlsruhe. Who is affected? All persons who stay overnight in Karlsruhe for a fee are liable for tax. This applies to business travelers and tourists alike. Children and young people under the age of 18 are exempt. How much is the tax? The tax is a flat rate per night and per overnight guest. The overnight tax for the period from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027, is €4.00 (four euros). It is charged by the accommodation provider in addition to the price of the overnight stay and invoiced separately.
