Travel by bus and train for free on Advent Saturdays
The Christmas City of Karlsruhe invites shoppers to experience what's on offer in the city centre. Karlsruhe’s city centre can be reached by bus and train on Advent Saturdays, not only in a climate friendly and stress-free way, but also free of charge!
Thanks to the collaboration between the City of Karlsruhe and the KVV, public transport in the Karlsruhe city area ("Honeycomb" 100) is free of charge on Advent Saturdays. This regulation also applies to lines S1, S11 and S2 along the full length of the route, including outside the city boundaries.
Tickets for the following lines must therefore be purchased up to or from the city limits:
Bus 107: Ettlingen Hedwigshof (Honeycomb 230)
S3, S31, S32 (Bruchsal): Weingarten (Baden) Bahnhof (Honeycomb 236)
S4 (Eppingen/Heilbronn): Berghausen Hummelberg (Honeycomb 238)
S5, IRE 1 (Pforzheim): Berghausen Pfinzbrücke (Honeycomb 238)
S5, S51/S52 (Wörth): Maximiliansau Eisenbahnstr. (Honeycomb 540)
RE 6, RB 52 (Landau): Maximiliansau Eisenbahnstr. (Honeycomb 540)
S7, S8 (Rastatt): Forchheim (b. Ka) Bahnhof (Honeycomb 232)
S71, S81, RE 2 (Rastatt): Ettlingen West (Honeycomb 230)
RE 4, RB 2 (Mannheim): Friedrichstal (Baden) (Honeycomb 236)
The City of Karlsruhe offers free Park & Ride facilities at a total of 15 locations throughout the year. During the Christmas season, you can travel from one of these to the city centre by bus and train free of charge and without the hassle. Supported by digital display panels, you will be directed to suitable transfer points.
The following free P&R places are recommended for Advent Saturdays:
P&R Messplatz (only during Advent)
Visitors travelling to Karlsruhe using the A 5, B 10 or Ostring can use the P&R Messplatz, which is signposted and specifically set up for the Christmas period, with a direct connection to the Tullastraße stop.
Visitors travelling to Karlsruhe using the L 605 (Ettlingen/Albtal) or the Südtangente can use the P&R facility at the Europahalle (Hermann-Veit-Strasse). The number of parking spaces will be increased and the paid parking spaces around the Europahalle will be available free of charge on Advent Saturdays.
P&R Mühlburg Station
Visitors travelling to Karlsruhe using the B 10 from the west (Pfalz) or the B 36 from the north (Bruchsal/Mannheim) will find a suitable transfer point at the P&R facility at Mühlburg railway station.
P&R Durlach Station and P&R Am dm Platz/Untermühlsiedlung
Visitors travelling from the east (Pfinztal/Weingarten/Durlach) can head directly to Durlach railway station or continue onto Durlacher Allee to the newly built P&R facility at Am dm Platz / Untermühlsiedlung.
P&R Fächerbad/Am Sportplatz
Visitors travelling from the north (Stutensee) can take the L 560 to the Fächerbad and use the P&R facility Am Sportpark.
