Schwarzer Kater - the new, versatile pub in Karlsruhe

Enjoy a freshly prepared lunch with your colleagues, have an afternoon coffee in the Karlsruhe sun, celebrate after work with sparkling drinks or experience the exuberant atmosphere at the weekend with a mix of club and pub - the Schwarze Kater in Karlsruhe's Kreuzstraße is one of the most versatile locations in the city center. 

"It's simply the mix that makes the Schwarzer Kater so special. Here you can enjoy a cozy meal or experience a real pub atmosphere after work and at the weekend," explains one of the managers Adrian Sanzillo, who also runs the Karlsruher Marktlücke. The restaurant, which is named after the black cat of one of the managers, invites you to linger in its special atmosphere. "It's important to us that everyone feels welcome. The bar area is the centerpiece and, of course, the beer garden in summer, which attracts many guests outside," says Sanzillo. For this reason, the pub, formerly known as the "Litfass", has been completely renovated and adapted to the style of the Schwarzer Kater.

A restaurant for every taste - The Black Cat's varied menu

The dishes are all home-made, freshly prepared and some are vegetarian and vegan - everyone gets their money's worth at the Schwarzer Kater. Above all, a varied menu of Baden and Swabian cuisine awaits guests here:

• Salads
• Burger
• Breaded schnitzel
• Bowls
• Pasta

but also specials such as fish'n'chips, chili cheese fries, curry or homemade tarte flambée. The latter are available daily from 17:00.

The Schwarzer Kater also offers a weekly changing lunch menu, as well as heavenly desserts in the form of waffles or Kaiserschmarren. At fair prices, you get portions that are filling and delicious.

Club and pub atmosphere in Karlsruhe city center

If you want to spend the evening with a glass of whiskey or a long drink, Kreuzstraße 10 is the place for you: "We have over 80 different types of whiskey, as well as a large selection of rum, long drinks and gin," says Sanzillo. Wines, beer, fizzy drinks and, of course, non-alcoholic beverages are also on the drinks menu at Schwarzer Kater. "As soon as the temperatures are constant, we open our beer garden, which is a real highlight thanks to the trees and the great location here in the city center," reveals the manager.

Pay a visit to the Schwarzer Kater and let the team spoil you with culinary delights or treat yourself to an after-work drink in the cozy beer garden. On Fridays and Saturdays, the Schwarzer Kater even opens its doors until 3:00 a.m., which is sure to make the hearts of Karlsruhe's night owls beat faster.
