Born in the Black Forest, Kai returned home after a three-and-a-half-year trip around the world: "It was a big dream of mine to open my own pizzeria. When I saw the location here in Amalienstraße, I knew that my dream was coming true," says the owner. It took three months to renovate and finalize the small but very fine restaurant in Karlsruhe's city centre - and it was worth it! With great attention to detail, "BESCHDE Pizza" is a place where people like to linger. "It's very important to me that my guests feel comfortable. That's why we've also written a special manuscript for our employees with our company values and rules of conduct," he explains. Respect, openness and tolerance are at the heart of what makes "BESCHDE Pizza" friendly, warm and welcoming!
The heart of the pizzeria in Karlsruhe: the open kitchen
When you enter "BESCHDE Pizza", you are treated to the sounds of jazz, vinyl records decorate the counter, there are games, books and magazines to pass the time and lots of green plants. "The records were one of our ideas and are simply intended to represent the 'music of life' with all its facets and sounds," says the restaurateur, describing the concept. However, the eye-catcher of the restaurant is the open kitchen. Here, guests can watch their pizza being prepared from the moment they order to the moment they take their first bite. The team attaches great importance to regionality, freshness and sustainability: "For example, we don't have a freezer at all, so we only use fresh produce. Dough, tomato sauce, pumpkins, mushrooms - we prepare everything fresh," says Kai.
Unusual, vegetarian and vegan pizzas in Karlsruhe
The menu of the restaurant offers a large selection of vegetarian, vegan (at no extra charge) and well-known varieties of pizza, which are sometimes interpreted in a completely new way:
- Little coward - cream sauce, mozzarella, figs, goat's cheese, walnut, honey, thyme
- Killer pumpkin - tomato sauce, mozzarella, roasted pumpkin, feta, sunflower seeds, fresh rocket
- The Luftikus - tomato sauce, mozzarella, delicately sliced ham (Mosalbtäler Luftikus), fresh rocket, grated Parmesan cheese
- Mexikana - tomato sauce, mozzarella, salami, peppers, olives (with pits), chili & fresh basil
- Pear and bacon - cream sauce, mozzarella, spicy bacon, pear, walnut, parsley
If you find it difficult to decide, you can also choose "half/half" at "BESCHDE Pizza" and combine two pizzas in one. Delicious!
Whether classics, new interpretations or their own creations, you can enjoy your pizza on the spot or to take away. The team also offers weekly changing special pizzas - so it's always worth stopping by!
A touch of Italy for the Karlsruhe summer
"We will have a small outdoor terrace in spring and will be able to open the window front. This will allow our guests to enjoy their pizzas in the open air," reveals Kai.
