Bouldering (i.e. climbing without a rope or harness at a safe height) is a current trend sport, also among the people of Karlsruhe. Anyone can learn it, no special equipment is required and the fun factor is great.

Whether you are a full professional or a beginner, a child or an adult - everyone is welcome at Boulderwelt Karlsruhe and the team of experts knows how to conjure up an unforgettable bouldering experience for everyone.

The bouldering world in Karlsruhe - for all those who want to aim high

Bouldering has become extremely popular in recent years and quite rightly so. Whether alone, in a group or as a family - anyone can learn bouldering. Comfortable clothing and enjoyment of movement - that's all you need for bouldering. The special climbing shoes can be hired directly on site and then it's time to go: Onto the bouldering walls, get set, go! According to the motto: "Climbing without fear or reproach", you can let off steam on various bouldering walls in the bouldering hall at Europaplatz and, thanks to thick mats, you are well protected even when jumping from a height of three to four meters. "Beginners and advanced boulderers can discover different routes here, so that everyone can find a challenge without getting bored or frustrated. The great thing about bouldering is that there is no pressure to succeed, because everyone sets their own goals. So everyone has fun with us, whether young or old, beginner or pro," enthuses site manager Simon Huneck.

But how exactly does this trendy sport work? After just a few minutes and grips, it's clear that it's not difficult at all and is incredibly fun.

A boulder consists of a sequence of holds and footholds of the same color. This is also explained clearly at the start thanks to informative speech bubbles and help on the walls, informative with help. "The start and end (top) of the boulder are predetermined and can be recognized by the round cards with the corresponding level information. The start consists of one or two holds, each marked with two round start cards, whereas the top is only marked with one card. The boulder is completed when the top has been held in a controlled manner (approx. 3 seconds) with both hands," explains Huneck.

The great thing about bouldering (especially in autumn and winter!) is that the indoor sport can be practiced in any weather and any season and, thanks to long opening hours, even until 11 pm. "Bouldering is a sport that trains the whole body without you even realizing it: muscle strength, stability, flexibility, concentration, strategy - bouldering hones all of these skills," explains crew member Alex. "What's more, the bouldering community is very special. Everyone helps everyone else and you're there for each other," she adds.

The sports experience is rounded off by a cozy bouldering café where guests can share their experiences and first success stories over cappuccino, other drinks and snacks.
