The Neue Kunst Gallery at the Karlsruher Zirkel
Michael Oess has been bringing contemporary art by young artists to Karlsruhe for over 20 years - right in the city center
In a space measuring around 100 square meters at Zirkel 32 in downtown Karlsruhe, the dedicated gallery owner skillfully transports his visitors into the world of contemporary art and its artists.
Here he presents an exciting and varied program of up-and-coming and established art positions, which attracts attention beyond the fan-shaped city. Michael Oess is also regularly active at art fairs in Germany and abroad, for example at
- Seattle
- Los Angeles
- Palm Beach
- Vienna
- Zurich
- Hamburg
- and of course Karlsruhe
As a trained restorer, Michael Oess has worked for the Baden-Württemberg State Monuments Office, among others. "I've always been interested in art and at some point I started collecting it myself," explains Michael Oess. "This quickly gave rise to the desire to have my own gallery, which I realized with my then wife Angela in Athens," says Michael Oess. "Back in Germany, I first opened my gallery in Knielingen and then had the opportunity to set up here in Zirkel, where I have now been based for over 15 years," says Oess.
Winterle and Riccelli at the Neue Kunst Gallery in Karlsruhe
In his gallery, Michael Oess demonstrates his keen sense for expressive and unique art. This is also evident in the current exhibition by Stefan Winterle with "Auf den Punkt" (To the Point). "Winterle designs his works on the computer, cuts stencils, and then skillfully sprays them onto canvases. Four stencils are required for each artwork, and the results are impressive," says Oess. His artistic and inspiring stencil paintings will be on display at the Neue Kunst Gallery in downtown Karlsruhe until June 29, 2024.
From July 5, 2024, Michael Oess will then take over from Italian painter Lucia Riccelli with "The Daily Imagination." Impressive works of art that explore a symbiosis of colors and bodies and are created on natural canvases characterize this very special artist, who is also a dancer. "The opening of Lucia Riccelli's exhibition will take place on July 5, 2024, at 7:30 p.m., and all art lovers are cordially invited," says Oess. "Of course, we will also show the European Soccer Championship on the side, should Germany be participating. Everyone should get their money's worth," Oess reveals with a smile. The residents of Karlsruhe will then have the opportunity to experience "The Daily Imagination" until August 3, 2024. After that, Michael Oess will start preparations for another exciting autumn of art. We can't wait!
