Opening in October 2025, 8 Lights is a new café-bar concept in the heart of Karlsruhe that stands out for its club-like atmosphere, specialty coffees, and creative cocktail menu.

A new culinary destination opened in the fall of 2025 in the former DASARTI space: With 8 Lights, owner Viktoria Chaika is bringing a café with a unique concept to downtown Karlsruhe. “I already had a small café in Ukraine. There, I also owned a health food store where I organized various events and developed my own line of handmade teas and spice blends under the name ‘108 Secrets,’” Viktoria explains. Now she is making her dream a reality with Café 8 Lights here in Karlsruhe as well. The owner spent a long time thinking about the perfect name for her Karlsruhe café. One evening, she was lying in bed and thinking about hanging retro lamps at the café’s entrance. In the end, she decided on eight of them—and that’s how the name ‘8 Lights’ came about.

With her café concept, she has managed to combine several elements: a café by day, a bar and club by night and on weekends—during the day, 8 Lights is a place to enjoy a cup of coffee, meet friends, or work. In the evenings and on weekends, the café transforms into an after-work and party spot with music, delicious drinks, and a laid-back club atmosphere. “I love music and have been passionate about it my whole life. After working regularly as a DJ in Karlsruhe for over a year, music has naturally become an integral part of the ‘8 Lights’ café,” says the passionate DJ.

Residents of Karlsruhe can start their day at 8 Lights from Tuesday through Thursday starting at 11:00 a.m. and Friday through Sunday starting at 12:00 p.m. with the finest specialty coffees and a variety of treats handpicked by the owner for her café:

“I want my guests to feel at home here and enjoy a little break from their daily routine,” says Viktoria. The cozy seating and relaxed atmosphere of the lovingly decorated café, along with the delicious cocktail creations and long drinks—ranging from classics like gin and tonic, B52, or margarita to variations such as Rosato Aperitivo with grenadine, orange juice, and Jägermeister—invite guests to do just that.

“We now also host a variety of events, such as creative painting sessions, dance classes, discussion evenings, and much more. I’m open to all kinds of collaborations, because the idea behind ‘8 Lights’ is to create a welcoming space where people can come together and express themselves creatively in a relaxed atmosphere,” the owner explains, outlining her vision for the concept.
