Whether before a visit to the chamber theater, for breakfast, lunch, or cocktail hour – visit the Alte Bank Karlsruhe at Herrenstraße 30 and indulge in some culinary delights.

This is where history meets modernity, listed buildings meet contemporary interiors: the Alte Bank is a restaurant with tradition and has been winning over the people of Karlsruhe as such since 2017 in its new guise. Once the seat of the Reichsbank and Landeszentralbank, the building underwent a complete renovation in just 10 days in the spring of 2017 and then celebrated its reopening in new splendor under the management duo Aline Varela and Harald Dietrich. The historic charm of the building has been retained and emphasized by lighting effects and modern furnishings. Low-hanging pendant lights illuminate the former counter hall, while rustic tables meet comfortable upholstered chairs. In summer, the beautiful outdoor area in front of St. Stephen's Church in the heart of the fan-shaped city attracts visitors with its special and cozy flair.

A restaurant with a varied and fresh selection

But it's not just the atmosphere at the Alte Bank that is impressive; the food and drink on offer is also impressive. From Monday to Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the restaurant is currently enchanting guests with a light and sophisticated summer menu: in addition to fresh salads in many delicious variations, with:

  • Maultaschen,
  • Tuna,
  • Chicken teriyaki,
  • sheep cheese,
  • Chanterelles (seasonal),
  • beef strips,

Popular classics such as currywurst, breaded schnitzel, sausage salad, and cheese spaetzle are also on the menu. And the restaurant's selection of tarte flambée offers something tasty for every taste. Whether as a classic version with sour cream, bacon, and onions, or something more experimental with salmon, chanterelles, tuna, or as a Greek version with feta cheese and olives. In summer, the wraps on the menu with salmon, chicken, chanterelles, or chili beef combinations are also perfect as a snack during your lunch break or as a light dinner.

Creative newbies meet classic drinks

The restaurant's extensive selection of drinks perfectly complements its dishes, ensuring that there is something to suit every occasion and every meal on the menu. This includes a comprehensive selection of wines from Baden, the Palatinate, Spain, Italy, and France. In addition, the stylish bar invites guests to relax and enjoy unusual or classic cocktail variations. Freshly mixed Cuba Libre, Moscow Mule, Mai Tai, and many other cocktails and long drinks are part of cocktail hour at the restaurant. Start an evening at the Kammertheater with the perfect aperitif or round off a wonderful evening at the Alte Bank with the finest cocktail artistry.
