For over 25 years, the team at Ali Baba has been cooking traditionally with oriental recipes from Syria and Libya - for four years now also in the fan-shaped city. Owner Hanna Isak has managed to bring a specialty to Karlsruhe with Ali Baba: A restaurant that is entirely dedicated to Syrian-Lebanese cuisine and impresses with both the country's traditional specialties and incomparable hospitality.
Fresh ingredients, spices straight from the Orient, high-quality meat, as well as the best wines from Lebanon - the team at Ali Baba places great emphasis on authenticity and taste in its menu. Anyone who visits Ali Baba will be delighted with the dishes from the very first bite. 

Traditional mezza at Ali Baba Karlsruhe - a delight for the senses

In addition to soups and traditional salads, such as the Lebanese salad with shepherd's cheese and peppers or tabbuli, Ali Baba-style burgul, the highlights of the restaurant are the mezza. These are starters from the Arabic cuisine. With around 20 different starters, Hanna Isak skillfully transports you to the cuisine of his homeland:

  • Hommos - the spicy chickpea puree
  • Mutabbal Batinjan - grilled eggplants
  • Labneh - home-made herb quark with spices
  • Schänklisch - pickled sheep's cheese

Personally prepared and served by the chef, the owner takes his guests on a journey to the East and conjures up a very special culinary highlight on the plates of the fan-shaped city with creativity and a love of his homeland.

Syrian-Lebanese cuisine also offers a wide and varied selection for vegetarians, ranging from the well-known baba ghanoush, baked eggplants, to a vegetarian mezze variation, bamir, pickled okra or the popular falafel dish. If you visit Ali Baba and fancy something with meat, you should also try one of the many meat specialties. Whether it's lamb kebabs, minced lamb and beef meatballs, braised leg of lamb, spit-roasted chicken or fried trout - the kitchen team at Ali Baba are masters of their trade and serve all meat dishes on Arabic bread with Lebanese rice or potato slices.
